OUR STORY

We are a church that is about more than meeting on Sunday mornings. Don’t get us wrong we love to get together on Sundays and worship the Lord, but we are more than that. We are driven by the vision to reach our city with the love of Jesus Christ and for that vision to become reality we need to be a community that comes together and spreads out. We come together to get into the Bible to see how we should live, be changed by the touch of God, grow in our relationship with Christ, and serve those who may have a little less than we do. Then we spread out as passionate followers of Jesus Christ to be agents of compassion, change bringers, and joy givers wherever the Lord sends us.

I have wanted to plant a church in Washington, D.C. since I was in college. I waited a long time for God to tell me it was time to go do it. That time came in 2015. I told Audrea that God said it was time to plant the church the Lord had put on my heart years before. She agreed. We drove through the city praying about where we should plant. Even though I am a native of Washington, D.C. the city has significantly changed. We stopped for lunch at a popular restaurant and Audrea said this is where we should plant. The Holy Spirit had spoken to her heart. We began the work of building a launch team and raising money and the Lord was magnificent. We started holding team meetings and worship services in different places. On September 17, 2017, we launched our church in the Dance Institute of Washington.

God ordained a terrific relationship with the Dance Institute. Its history of serving the community and reaching out to improve life through the arts resonated with our mission to creatively impact our city for Christ.

When we held our first service there God made it clear that every time we met for service the institute would become His sanctuary. Every Sunday Dance Institute becomes a house of worship where people have come into a relationship with Christ, been healed of wounds in the hearts, and found a church family to call their own.

We are a church that meets on Sundays and much more. We come together and then we spread out. We come together to worship, to pray for each other, to get into God’s Word, to encounter the power of the Holy Spirit. We come together to learn about following Jesus, to be a community, to serve one another. We come together to create a place where people from all walks of life can come and see that the Lord is good.
